A Meaningful Night

My heart was beating fast as I walked to the front of the stage. With confidence, I said my first line, loud and clear.
    "So, what's next?"
My friends replied me, saying their lines. And soon enough, we were off, swiftly saying our lines.
Not after long, we reached the conclusion.
"So the next time you use single-use plastics, think about the next 10 generations after us." I said.
"'Cause these problems keep getting bigger and bigger." Linnea said.
"And when these problems actually strike, the whole world will be in crisis." Karen said.
"So please, when it's child labor or plastic pollution, go home and reconsider all this now." I said.
"Because if we don't you'll find out soon enough that we're destroying what we call," Karen said.
"Home, sweet, home." We all said together.
I heard footsteps behind me as my classmates all stumbled to the front of the stage.
I heard Linnea's 1st foot tap, signalling for us to get ready.
And as soon as she was done with her 3rd foot tap, we took a deep breath and started to speak.
"BE A PART OF THE SOLUTION AND NOT THE POLLUTION, BECAUSE US KIDS, DESERVE A BETTER FUTURE!" We all shouted together.
The audience clapped and cheered. "Nice job, kids!" I heard Ms. Schneider say as we filed off the stage.
Success! I thought as I walked back to my seat.
We had planned this performance for a long time now, and after a month of hard work, we had finally put it into action. The Night of the Notables performance was not over. The Night of the Notables performance was a performance that Grade 5 did every year. The performance was performed for the parents.
Karen, me, and Linnea (from left to right)
For the performance, the students would split into groups and do some research. After that, we used our own words and eventually made a script. From this experience, I thought that I was able to use my writing skills for a good cause.
I think that memorizing my lines was somewhat challenging for me. I don't really know why this was a challenge for me, but after a while of practicing and checking my lines again and again, I was able to overcome my challenge and memorize my lines.
There were also a few things that I learned about myself because of this performance. I learned that I had a better imagination than I expected because I was able to use my writing skills to make meaningful lines for the performance.
From watching from the other performances, I realized everyone was able to project their voices so that everyone could hear what they said. I also learned a lot about child labor and animal testing because the other classes were able to confer their information pretty well to the audience.
I wouldn't change anything about the performance because I thought everyone did pretty well.
I think that I will take a few actions because of the ideas presented at the Night of the Notables performance. I will try to use less plastic and only buy products that do not use animal testing.
Night of the Notables is a performance that Grade 5 makes every year. And from this performance, we help make the world a better place. If every school in the world did this, the world would be an amazing and peaceful place.
Because us kids, deserve a better future! Because if this continues, kids in the future generations won't know the true definition of a future. Because they won't have a future.

Slice Of Life #134 - Johnny English Strikes Again - Tuesday, September 25th, 2018 - Happened on Sunday, 16/9/2018

The metal doors of the elevator opened. People filled out of the elevator, most of them holding jackets or something to keep them warm. It was 10:00 at night, and I was watching a movie. We had wanted to watch a movie about Malaysia's 14th general election, and how we made our voices heard (post coming up on that movie in a few weeks!) Because there we could not watch that movie, we decided to watch Johnny English Strikes Again.
At first, I wasn't really interested in the movie because of it's name. No offense, but that movie really needed a better name for kids that don't know how to differentiate the good movies from the bad ones.
After buying our tickets, we decided to go home so I could take a bath and bring a jacket so it wouldn't be so cold. When we got home, I quickly took a bath and my mom helped me take my jacket out from the closet.
As we went back into the cinema, I could feel the icy cold air-cond gush outside the room as we opened the door. We went to find our seats, and sat down to enjoy a nice movie.
Before the movie, Rowan Atkinson, the person acting Johnny English had a gun and shot it in the air with no bullet to tell us to silent our phones, and some kids started laughing. I didn't get how that was funny, but the movie got me laughing like crazy. I literally couldn't stop laughing. The only sad part of the story was the time when Johnny English got fired, but the rest of the movie was HILARIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My favorite part of the story was the part where Johnny English wore Virtual Reality (VR) glasses. It doesn't really make sense, but it is really funny. And by really funny, I mean - you can't stop laughing.
The reason I like the movie Johnny English Strikes again is because of the creativity of the people who wrote the script. There were some parts that probably would not be possible with the technology we have now or would probably not be happening in real life, but they thought of all that and decided to add it into the movie. There are also some really "common sense things" in the movie, but even though they were "common sense things", if I was stuck in a similar situation, I would probably not be doing what Johnny English was doing.
When the movie was finished, I was really satisfied with the decision we made as a family to watch this movie. We were all talking about the movie, making it a great, fun, day.

Slice Of Life #130 - Currently, Tuesday, August 28th, 2018

Ok. Hi everyone! I was  in a book called "The Secret Coders - Potions and Parameters". It's the 5th book in a great series. You're not allowed to do book recommendations in Slices (I'm pretty sure - but I don't know why.), so I'm going to stop talking about that.

Currently...

  • I just realized that a new Secret Coders book is expected soon and that I am missing out. The 6th book is supposed to be coming out on October 2, 2018, according to Google Books.
  • NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! This is going to be the last book in the series!
  • I am looking forward to the next Clarinet Masterclass at school - wait. I'm actually looking forward for next Monday, where I finally get to bring my instrument home. Apparently my instrument, the Clarinet, is the instrument with the most parts in my 5th grade band (it has 6 parts).
  • I am playing a game on starblast.io. I am playing team mode. In the game, I am in the Paerodem System and the year is still 4338 (I think.)
  • I am on the pink team.
  • I am collecting a bunch of gems. I have 19 gems.
  • Yay! I get to upgrade my ship!
  • My base has been upgraded.
  • I have 13 gems.
  • Someone is attacking me.
  • My teammate and me are fighting back.
  • He died!
  • I get to upgrade my ship again but it costs 80 gems.
  • No! Someone is attacking me.
  • I am fighting back.
  • I am moving around and trying to dodge his bullets.
  • I hit him 5 times.
  • 8.
  • HAHAHA kills me.
  • I respawn.
  • I have 59 gems.
  • I donated them all to my team.
  • People are stealing my gems.
  • I bought a mining pod.
  • We are attacking a team.
  • I died.
  • I am trying to attack the team again.
  • I am dealing damage.
  • I died.
  • I have to leave now.

Slice Of Life #118 - Currently... - Tuesday 5th, June 2018

K'. So, what are we going to write about today? I really have nothing to write about. Aha! *light bulb lights up in brain* Let's do a currently post!

Currently...

  • Blogger is not being very nice to me. It is not letting me use commands (to put the text in the middle, I had to do it manually instead of just doing ctrl + shift + e)
  • Okay. Apparently, some commands are allowed and some are disabled.
  • I am watching a video about kids trying to find out the meaning about idioms.
  • Ok. A girl in this video is a noob. (I don't know what all of the idioms in the video are, but I know most of them.)
  • After watching the video, the girl that was a noob only got one correct and the smart girl only got one wrong.
  • Great. Now my computer says that noob and ok are not words. It's making me correct noob into boob and ok into OK.
  • I'm watching a video on the Jimmy Kimmel show. This is a spelling bee video. K'. Apparently the person competing looks like a miniature version of Donald Trump. FYI, he is really, really, rude.
  • I'm watching Ellen and Barack Obama's moments together (I'm kind of rushing this, so I'm sorry if there's bad grammar)
  • I'm watching a really funny spellling bee on the Jimmy Kimmeel show. Like, it's really funny. Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v8U7hHHg8G8
Sorry, I have to go now!

Slice Of Life #84 - SLC (Student-Led Conferences) - Wednesday, 7/3/2018

Today was the very day of SLC (Student-Led Conferences). I had a stomach ache that morning (that's probably going to be my 87th post), which was a really bad start to the day. I was walking to my class, prepared to tell my parents what I had been doing in class. I got a slip of paper from my teacher, which told me where to go first, and where to go after that.
My first station was the math station. I showed them my math notebooks and also our "unit books", which were books about each unit that we had (ex: measurement, multiplication and division, equivalent fractions, etc). I was proud of my post assessment, and also how I could convert and add very well. After that, I played a math game with my parents. I completely dominated them because they didn't play with skills (as I like to say), and also because their denominators were too big.
After the math station, we had the science/reading station. I showed my parents my science notebook, and also my research notebook. I also showed them me reading a book for research, which I pre-recorded. We also did a Quizlet (Quizlet is a app to help you learn), which my parents were really good at (only when we did learn) When we did the test, my parents were really bad because they didn't know how to spell the things. Another reason is because when we did learn, they just had to guess because the words were alike to the pictures and the definitions, and also because they were able to remember what they had already selected (Quizlet link here).
The station after that was my writing station. I showed my parents my writing notebook (I think that you should have guessed that without needing me to tell you). My writing goal was to keep on writing. Writing was my favorite subject in school, and I told my parents all about it.
Our last station was to meet my teacher (This paragraph is going to be shortened a lot because there are some things that I want to keep private here). My teacher told my parents my strengths and my weaknesses, and that was about it.

Do you have SLC in your schools? What did you do today? Hope to hear from you soon! Thanks for reading my blog! Feel free to leave any comments that you have in the comments section below.  Stay updated for some other good posts and please return to my blog!

Slice Of Life #71 - JUMP Camp - Happened from 10/12/2018 - Wednesday - 12/12/2018 - Thursday - Tuesday 16th, January 2018 - 16/1/2018 - Written On Monday, 15/1/2018

On January 10-11 2018, Wednesday and Thursday, we, grade 4 students had a really awesome JUMP camp. We learned many new things and improved our leadership, teamwork, communication and collaboration skills. We camped overnight in the school, but it was really hard for the boys to sleep because it was so hot in the studio. The boys slept in the studio and the girls slept in the library. Like I said up there, we learned many new things. We played many games. The games that I liked the most were:

  • Lava Pit
  • Key Punch
  • Blind Astronaut
  • Annie The Artist
  • Hoolium

Ratatouille was a movie
about a mouse that lived in Paris
In these games, someone had to take up the leadership part except for Key Punch and Blind Astronaut (Blind Astronaut - not really). I was the leader for most of the games, such as: Caterpillar Walk, Hoolium, Annie The Artist,  etc. I really liked the fact that I got to sleep with my friends. We had lots of time whenever we set up our sleeping bags, and I was the first to get everything organized. I got my sleeping bag, I got my pillow. I got a bunch of other things that I would need for the night/the next day. I applied my moisturizer that I needed for my allergy's and then started to play. I got out my Mensa Kids book that I was gonna figure out the tricks/not tricks out. We played American Football (no wrestling, only tagging) and also Monkey in the Middle with the Football that Mason brought (Is it called a football?). We got to watch a movie at night in our PJs (Pajamas). I ate some popcorn, which I comfirmed had no butter. I watched the movie Ratatouille. That movie was quite a old movie from 2007 and was about a mouse that lived in Paris. After the movie, I went to get my book, Auggie and Me, which I forgot to bring home the day before. Look below for a review for a review of Auggie and Me! On the first day, I didn't really get to eat much. I had to share half of my bun with my friend Nico, who had a rotten apple for... (who knows why). I got to eat all my lunch, and my best friend Toby forgot to bring food from home (he claimed that he didn't have food at home). At our small break for food, I couldn't eat anything but oranges and watermelon, but I only ate watermelon because I didn't like to eat oranges. Wake up call on the second day was at 7:00. Breakfast was at 7:00. I was the third person to wake up on the second day. I woke up about 15 minutes before it was wake up time (6:45). It was actually quite dark when I went to brush my teeth, and it looked like it was 6:00. On the second day, I liked it more because I got to take food from the teacher's area (which was way yummier and better) because I couldn't eat the breakfast they served. I also got to take the food from the canteen because I couldn't eat the lunch they served. Overall, I thought that JUMP camp was boss, the greatest, most "awesomest" camp that I have ever been in. It was a great blast.

Auggie and Me, a great book
Auggie and Me
Auggie and Me is about 3 more "Wonder" stories my R.J. Palacio. This does not continue the life of August Pullman, but it talks about others that know him or have a relationship with him. At first, this was published in 3 different books, but then the author decided to change it and make it into one whole book. I have not finished this book yet, but I can tell you that from what I am reading now, it is definitely a great blast! A must read, and it's very inspiring for me.

That's what happened in JUMP camp (for me, at least) Thanks for reading. Keep reading, keep writing, and have fun! What books are you reading? Did you ever go camping or stay at school for a night? Ever? Is it snowing where you are? Hope to hear from you soon! Thanks for reading my blog! Slice Of Life #68 - Merry Christmas!!! - Tuesday 26th, December 2017 - 26/12/2017

Merry Christmas!

A note from the author:

As you can see from the title up there, Merry Christmas! Even though I don't celebrate Christmas, I still want to wish those of you that celebrate Christmas 'Merry Christmas!' Here in Malaysia, today is boxing day. In America, it should still be Christmas. Now, lets get on to the blog post.

Opening Presents:

Like I said before, I don't celebrate Christmas. Still, I have some presents to open because some people still give me presents. I received a present from my cousins, one from my robotics teacher, and another 2 from a Christmas 'party' for my dad's clinic. First I opened one from my dad's Christmas 'party', which was sponsored from a sales rap. They were just some towels. Next I opened one from the 'present trading activity' at the 'party'. It was a picture frame. After that, I opened the one my robotics teacher gave me, and that one was good. It was a geometry set. In there, it had a 180° and a 90° angle ruler. It also had some really complicated, detailed notes, but using the metric system. From my cousins, I got a big box. Well, yeah, that was practically it.* Inside the box, there was lots of junk food, which was vegan because of my allergies. I think that it is quite weird that in Scotland (where my cousins are)**, you can find vegan food easily in supermarkets, but in Malaysia, it is not as easy. They also gave me some clothes, which were nice of them. I actually liked how the clothes looked. They also gave me some type of toy and a salt water powered robot, which I loved. I still have to build the robot, bad thing is, but I still like it because I love challenges.

What I am doing to pass the time:

Since I have to classes to go to, and I now am having holidays, I don't really have anything to do. My friends are all gone overseas, and it's either they don't have internet connection, or they can't access Google because they are in China. So, to pass the time I am reading books and watching YouTube.

Books that I am reading:

I recently have finished a book that I have borrowed from my homeroom teacher. It is part of the survival squad series. Drum-roll please...
I PRESENT TO YOU...
THE BOOK SURVIVAL SQUAD NIGHT RIDERS!!!
I got pulled into this book because I am a Cub Scout, and I have experienced a lot of fun throughout my whole scouting experience. From learning new things to watching rocket launchers blow up, the things that you experience in scouting is really crazy. This book is about some scouts going on a adventure to earn a badge, and at midnight, something bad happens. Helping would be a really risky idea. Will they be successful or not? Read on to find out!

What Christmas presents did you receive? Hope to hear from you soon! Thanks For Reading My Blog!!! Please "Give" Me Any Comments You Have In The Comments Section Below!!! Slice Of Life #50 - My First Robotics Class - #SHORTESTPOST - This Happened On Sunday, August 13th, 2017 (13/8/2017) - This Was Wrote On 14/8/2017 And Was Published On 15/8/2017

My stomach was hurting like crazy, and it hurted so much that I literally couldn't eat my breakfast. I went to poop a lot and my mom told me that I probably should skip my robotics class. My robotics class was only once a week, and this was going to be my first robotics class after I had my trial class. I was not going to miss it. Soon after that, my stomach stopped hurting so then I went to my robotics as usual.
When we reached, my teacher gave me a book where I could record my progress, a level 1 robotics set, some clothes I had to wear to every robotics class I went to, and also a box where I could keep my things. She then asked me to do the attendance, which I did. After that, I did a inventory check because we had to check if they gave me everything I needed. I had a few extras, which my teacher allowed me to keep.
After all the checking, I got started making a windmill. Currently, I am still not done making the windmill but it will probably take me just 10 more mins to finish it. After all that, I wrote a little in my progress book, then went home.

Thanks For Reading My Blog!!! Please "Give" Me Any Comments You Have In The Comments Section Below!!! I Can't Wait To Hear From You!!! Stay Updated Some Other Good Posts!!!

P.S Sorry for the short post because I probably wouldn't tell you what I said and everything I did in the inventory check. #SHORTPOST

Slice Of Life #45 - The Leiter Test (This Was Wrote And Posted On 11/7/2017)

It was 8:45 in the morning in Malaysia, and I woke up. I was really excited because I was going to be taking a leiter test for the first time. The I was going to be there for 3 hours because that was normally how long the test took. I was going to go to my mom and dad's brain training center, Your Brain Academy to do the leiter test with a clinical psychology that I knew for a long time. I even chatted with her on hangouts. We went to eat at a Indian shop and then fetched my dad to work and then went to Your Brain Academy. I went to the toilet and then went to drink some water and then started the leiter test. At first, I had to find some things in the picture and then tell the "Examiner" where it was. It was very easy but then it started getting really hard. After that, I got to take a 5 minute break. I did a lot of things in the 5 minute break and then went back to do the test. After that, we did some things with "blocks" and I had to find a pattern. There were some blocks that were blocks to trick you, so not everything was supposed to be included in the pattern. Some of the things were very obvious and some were not so obvious. After that, I had a 1 minute break when I went to the toilet and to refill and drink my water. We then did a few other games that included games with blocks. After that, we then played a game where we had to multitask. There were cards and when we saw a red triangle we had to tap it while we put the red counters in the red box and the yellow counters into the yellow box. It was really hard because I had to just focused on the cards and not the counters. After that, we finished the test some "focusing games". After we did the focusing games, I was done with the test. I only took 2 and a half hours.
