Slice Of Life #30 - A Hard Decision

When I got home from my Malay class, my mom told me " See this message." At first, I thought that is was just a surprising fact that my mom wanted me to know, but today, when I read it, I found out it was not.
The message said:

Dear all, thank you very much for your reply.
Update on current situation, we just confirmed the meeting time with Master Cheng Yen ( A Buddhist Nun ), which will be on 17th Morning. 🌞
Means for 17th return flight, we are left with AirAsia's latest flight. (*China Airlines's 6.40pm flight is booked out)
Currently we have two options:
1⃣ AirAsia - cost RM 1,600 - 1,900
15th April: Depart Kuala Lumpur 10:00am, Arrive Taipei 14:40 pm
17th April: Depart Taipei 2:45pm, Arrive Kuala Lumpur 04.20am (*18/04/17)
2⃣ China Airlines - cost RM 1,450
15th April: Depart Kuala Lumpur 07:30am, Arrive Taipei 12:20pm
18th April: Depart Taipei 08:50 am, Arrive Kuala Lumpur 13:30pm
Please reply with your choice of option 1 or option 2 by tonight. I will proceed with booking first thing tomorrow morning.
Sorry about the trouble, thank you for your patience and understanding. 🙏🙏😊

When I saw that, I told my mom that I wanted to go with the China Airlines flight. But then my mom told me that that would mean missing school. I did not want to miss school, but I wanted to go with the China Airlines flight. I wanted to go with the china airlines flight because I could watch the "Small TV" in there, we didn't use china airlines much, and it was the cheapiest. After thinking for some time, I decided that I would use Airasia to go back to Malaysia. It would mean that I was not missing school and my dad was not missing work.

Have you ever had a time like that when you had to go think really hard to decide between the two options? Hope to hear from you in the comment section below! Thanks for reading my blog!

Slice Of Life #29 - The President List Competition

Click here to see the brain training center! The center helps me a lot, so go there!

"Are you ready for the filming?" A trainer asked me. It was a Wednesday, and I was at my mom and dad's brain training center. It was my mom and dad's dream to have a training center like that, but at that time, I was still a baby, so they decided to wait until I grew up to make one. I had just finished my training, there was a manual training and a digital training. The manual training came first, then after 45 mins, I would change to digital training for 45 mins. The manual training was brain training from the coaches there (Don't worry, I can confirm for you that the trainers are carefully trained...)  and digital training was training from the computer. In order to do the digital training, you had to play computer games that train the brain. They really give your brain a workout! Some of the computer games are really hard and some are ok/easy. " I am totally ready!" I said. They took me into a room to film my president list. We were having a president list competition and I was being brought into a room to film and time my president list. "Ready, on your mark, GET SET, GO!!!" One of the trainers exclaimed. One of the trainers were timing me on the stopwatch and another was recording me on a camera. Almost immediately, I said the presidents from Washington to Obama. "Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Madison, Mon Roll, Adams, Jackson, Van Buren, Harrison, Tyler..." I said like the speed of lightning. It was 2016, so there was no Donald Trump as president back then. "Good job," They said telling me that it was over. I breathed a sigh of relief and went back to chit chatting with my friend, Yu Xuan (Not Yi Xuan / Yixuan).

                                                          1 Week Later...
Image result for 2nd place

1 week later, the results came out. I went to look at the results and guess what? I got 2nd place! The first place person came in with a really good score - 15 seconds. I came in 2nd and my time was 27 seconds. 3rd place came in with a passing score - 32 seconds. They congratulated me for winning and gave me a sticker pack and a sticker book. The sticker book is currently on my piano and my sticker pack is currently in my room to remind me of my great president list competition win.

Have you ever won 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place? Hope to hear from you soon in the comment section below!

Slice Of Life #28 - Things That I Think Are AWESOME In The Alphabet - Inspired By Ava

I know that you may be starting to realize that I'm getting inspired by Ava a lot, and I'm telling you that it's really starting to be true. I notice that Ava always does a lot of acrostics using the alphabet, and at first I thought it was hard (Acrostics are really hard for me! Most of the time I get stuck making one that makes sense!) , but sitting here and thinking if it's hard or not, I'm starting to realize that it's not too hard. Especially when you just need to think of the things that you like, and just put it in order! Not too hard, right? Here it is! (Click Here to see Ava's Post!)

P.s Sometimes there's more than 1 thing that I think are AWESOME in the alphabet!

Things That I Think Are AWESOME In                  The Alphabet!

Apps! (The game type of app...) - They let you have fun! You are filled with happiness when you play the games!

Books! - They are very interesting and fun to read! When I'm bored, one thing I would do is read! READING IS AWESOME!

P.S On the first day of school our teacher, Ms. Victor jumped on top of the table and shouted "I LOVE READING!" to all of us.

Challenges and Creativity! - Without challenges, life would be easy and we would not get smarter. With creativity, we imagine things that we might have in the future! You're predicting the future! Who knows, the thing that you predicted might turn true in the future! Challenges and creativity make your brain grow!

Dads and Doctors! - Our dad helps us almost everyday! Our dad does a ton of work and goes through a lot of challenges just for you! Doctors keep you healthy!

Education and Earth! - Education helps us learn! We set goals and get challenges when we learn! Education helps your brain grow! With no earth, we would not be here!

Food! - With no food, we wouldn't be surviving this easily! (I know that life is not that easy...) Life is easier and better with food!

Goals and Games! - Goals and games help you learn and strengthen your thinking so you can be more smarter! They also let you have fun!

Happiness! - You feel good! I just can say more than that!

Imagination! - With imagination, we imagine things that we might have in the future! You're predicting the future! Who knows, the thing that you predicted might turn true in the future! Everything that is now popular was once something that was imagined.

Jokes! - They make you laugh! They make your day better than ever!

Kids! - Kids are AWESOME! When you turn bigger, you might start to miss the days when you were small. Life as a kid is SOMETIMES easier than an adult's life. But if you are a kid don't think that are adults are better than you!, just remember, a adult was once a kid.

Life! - Obviously...

Mom! - They help you a lot. Usually your mom does all the housework for you!

Nutrition! - Without nutrition, your body becomes weak and you have big difficulties in life.

Outstanding! - They amaze you! There's even more than 1 meaning of outstanding!

Passions! - Without passions, life would be more boring than ever! Passions give people a job, they intrest people. Passions tell you what you are interested in. Without passions how would we earn money? How would life be if there were no passions? Do you want to be bankrupt?

Quiet Time! - They calm you and make you not so annoyed / stressed.

Recommendations! - They make you interested.

Space! (The space with planets...) - With no space, there would not be earth and mars, venus, and other planets for us to explore!

Technical Devices! - They let us have fun and let us learn! I LOVE them, they are AWESOME!!!

Unbelievable! - They twist your brain and amaze you.

Valuable! - They make you happy and get you interested in things!

Wifi! - They let you do a lot of stuff such as watch youtube, write this post, etc. What is life like without Wifi?

X-Rays! - Their complicated to use! Doctors are be able to figure out what is wrong with their patients.

You! - Thank you for reading / commenting on my blog! I would be bored with no one commenting on my blog! I would be thinking why on earth should I write this blog.

Zhi Hong! - Without me, you would not be reading my post! You would not even have a word / something / name / someone called "Zhi Hong. What on earth would "Zhi Hong" even mean if I wasn't alive?  - My post wouldn't even be there for you to read!

That's all for today! (I have to admit, it was kind of hard...) Thanks for reading my blog!

Slice Of Life #26 - My Dad's Speech

Today, my dad gave a speech. I had a class, but it was over, and we were driving back home to change clothes. “Quick! Quick!” my mom exclaimed. My dad had a presentation to go to, and the place was far. My dad was supposed to give a speech at a monastery. I quickly changed my clothes and then got into the car. Me and my dad had not eaten our breakfast, so we drove to a indian shop called “Rattha” to eat our breakfast. I ate 4 pieces of something called “Putu Mayam” mixed with a sauce called “Dahl” and my mom and dad ate some plain white rice with some egg and potato. There was an adult coming with us too. She ate a piece of “Bread” called “Roti Canai”. After that, we headed to the monastery. On the way, we picked up another adult and a kid. We chatted on the way heading up the mountain. We were going to the monastery for the first time, and we had to go up a steep hill. The hill was very bouncy, but before that, it was just a road that no normal car could go up. 4 Wheel Drives were the most common way of going up the mountain. At first, I did not know that it was actually a very dangerous path to go. It was smoothed out and widened out into a safer path. And it may haved been bumpy, but they “smoothed it” and widened it out pretty well. When we were halfway up the mountain, a herd of cows were heading up the mountain too! “I think these cows are owned by someone…” my mom said. There were a lot of them, but they were blocking our way. “Why don’t you blow off the horn so they make way?” I asked my dad, the “driver”. “But they might get frightened and run away,” he said with compassion. Then I was starting to notice that they were actually starting to make way for us. I also thought of the word “Dangerous”, they might attack us. That was when I saw a worker taking care of the cows. He would be angry if the cows ran away. After all, I was starting to realize that the cows recognized the route to go back to their home. When we reached the monastery, we ate our lunch there. There were a lot of yummy food there. We knew 3 of the monks at the monastery but were only able to meet 2 because 1 of the monks we knew were off doing something important.  After that, we took a tour of the monastery. Our “tour guide” was one of the monks we knew at the monastery. After the tour, it was time for my dad’s speech. His speech was going to be about vegetarian and a little bit about health. I learned a lot. I learned some chemicals that I did not know before the speech. Did you know that salmon is pink only because they put chemicals in them?! After my dad’s speech, we chatted a little with the monks we knew at the monastery. It was until we heard the crackling sound of thunder. The crackling sound of thunder was a sign of raining, it was going to rain soon. It was time we said bye and went home.

Slice of Life #25 - The Last Night - Welcome Home!

Image result for time to go home

After all these 3 days in my uncle's house, the excitement finally came to a stop. Yesterday, after we ate our dinner, I asked my mom what time should I wake up tomorrow. "I'll wake up at 6:00, but you can wake up between 6:45-7:00." She told me. Later that night, I had a hard time sleeping. The AC - Air Cond was very troublesome. We could not adjust it to the temperature we wanted. The AC was very cold, so we had to turn it off. But when we turned it off, it was really hot! We had to keep turning the AC on and off, on and off. The next day, I could not wake up so my mom woke me up. "Time to leave," She said to me. I knew that it was time. But I wished that 7:00 would come later. After all, I still needed a ton of sleeping time. But there was no choice, life was never always easy. We drove to the train station, but it was still early. We waited for some time until a person called us in. My aunty used the elevator because she had to bring down a small luggage, but we used the stairs. After we got on the train, we had to wait for 4 hours to reach our destination, KL Sentral. It wasn't as boring as last time, because I slept until we reached a stop, Ipoh, my dad's hometown. When we reached the stop I woke up and went to the train's canteen with my aunt's maid. She said that she wanted a cup of coffee, but the line was too long, so she didn't buy the coffee. After that, we both went to the bathroom. When we reached our destination, KL Sentral, we took a taxi/cab to my aunt's home. After that, we ate at a restaurant called Fresh Mart and then our aunt fetched us home. (Click on "Fresh Mart" for a link!)

Slice Of Life #24 - Hitting The Road - A Injured Dog - In The Cementry - Visiting My Granduncle

I had just finished my breakfast, we were going to go to the cementery to pray for my Grandfather and Grandmother. On the way, I saw a car crash into a dog! "Oh my gosh!" I exclaimed! I had never saw a car crash into a dog in my life. What was the driver thinking? Did the driver do that on purpose? But the dog was still strong, the dog may have tumbled over, but he quickly stood up and ran away. When we reached the cementry, we found my grandmother and grandfather and started preparing the food. My grandmother's colombrian number was DD 25 and my grandfather's colobrian number was DD 101. After we finished preparing the food, we went in to call them out to eat. (This is just a tradition.) When they finished eating, we packed up and went to the old folks home to visit my grandfather's Brother. After we done that, we went home just to relax.

What was your day like? Be sure to tell me in the comment section below!

P.S Sorry for the short post...

Slice Of Life #23 - Going To Penang - On The Train

Currently, I'm on the train going to Penang with this little boy that's just sitting beside me enjoying all the treats that people are giving him. Don't ask me why so many people are giving them treats, but I have to admit, I'm actually jealous of all the people being nice to him and not to me. My Mom even offered to change seats with one of the brothers so both of them can sit together. I wish those two brothers were not in the train. Why do I have to be the annoyed one and those brothers be the relaxed one? I'm feeling very annoyed even though this is supposed to be a exciting for me. Inside the train, there's this boring and romantic video that's playing and almost no one is watching it. Oh, the video just finished. Now we are stopping at another stop called "Kepong Sentral". Our train number is 9412  and we're expected to reach there at 8:15 PM. My aunty's maid keeps saying "When are you going to eat your rice?" "I'm typing, don't distract me..." I'm replying. Now she's opening the blinds. I'm still finding the boys very irritating as they are running back and forth from the front of the train to the back of the train. Do they seriously have to run around like that? Lots of people are going to the toilet and returning back to their seats. My Mom is asleep and someone else is playing a game on the Ipad. Right now, the train is going at high speed as we are waiting for very Long to reach our destination. Currently, we are traveling at 124kph as that is very high speed.

Have you ever been on a train? Are you travelling right now? Where have you travelled to before? Hope to hear from you in the comment section below!

Slice Of Life #20 - My Fractured Arm- A Hard Time To Pass

My eyes were sobbing with tears, my friend Victor had injured my arm. It was the end of the day and our teacher, Ms Gayle, was reminding us what ASA - After School Activities we had. I was just relaxing and resting my arm on the floor. But my friend Victor did not see that my hand was on the floor, so he also put his hand on the floor. But instead of his hand on the floor, he put his hand on my hand. Even worse, he had just put all his weight on me that I could not move my left hand. Once he found out that he had put all his weight on my hand, he immediately lifted it up. But it was too late, my eyes were sobbing with tons of tears as I was in a lot of pain and I could not move my left arm. When my teacher saw that I was crying, she asked me "Why are you crying?". Sobbing with tears, I replied "Victor put all his weight on my hand and now my hand hurts a lot.". She told me that my hand should get better later and my hand won't hurt much anymore. But she was incorrect. But my friend was nice, he offered to carry my backpack knowing that I was in pain. But I said that I could carry it myself with just my right hand. But in my ASA football, I had to rest and could not play because running would hurt my hand very badly and I could not move my left hand.
When I got home, it just got worse. I had my chinese class. My chinese teacher had brought many worksheets for me to do, but I wrote with my left hand, and that was the hand that I just injured. I just had to tell her that I injured my hand very badly and I could not write. She thought that I was faking it, so my mom had to tell my teacher that it was actually true that I injured my left hand very badly. The class was a really bad and boring class because all I could do was read, read, and read. (I know that reading is fun, but reading straight for 2 hours without rest would be boring for me.) Only some of the books were interesting.
The next day, my teacher saw that my arm was not getting better by even a single bit and that it was just getting worse. So Ms Gayle called a meeting between me and Victor. "How do you know that it was Victor that injured you?" "It could have been Sam," She told me. "It has to be Victor because Victor was sitting next to me because we had the same ASA - Football and on that day, Sam was a bus rider, not a ASA student." At that time I knew that the risk of Sam injuring me would have been a 1% chance and the risk of Victor injuring me would have been a 95.99% chance.
So I just decided that it was probably Victor that injured me. The days just got worse and worse day by day. After a few days, I decided that this problem was getting bigger and bigger and I decided that I want to put a stop to it, but I just couldn't. Day after day I still couldn't move my hand a single bit and everyday I could not write.
When my mom realized that I has been the 2nd day that I could not move my left hand, my mom asked me if I wanted to go for a X-Ray to see what was wrong with my hand. I said "No, I think I'm ok." but told her that if in 2 days my hand doesn't stop hurting when I move it I would go for a X-Ray.
2 days passed and my hand still did not get better. So I did what I said I was going to do, I was going for a X-Ray. When I got the X-Ray, my hand hurted really badly. The first X-Ray picture was ok, it didn't really hurt much. But the second was not, it hurted a lot.
A picture of my X-Ray (Look at my name on top for proof that it's mine)
After I did the X-Ray, I went for Ultrasound scanning. (It you don't know what Ultrasound means, Click Here!) The Ultrasound scanning did not hurt much.

They had us wait for about 5 minutes, and the doctor came out and showed us the report. The doctor said that I was fine and I had a normal elbow alignment. He said that I had a fracture.  She told me that I should be ok as soon as I start to be able to move my elbow a little.

Slice Of Life #19 - A Big Day, A Big Accomplishment - Giving My Speech

Today was a big day for me. I was giving a speech! I may given a lot speeches but this is would be a very big accomplishment for me because I have never gave a speech for this long and have never given a speech in front of this many people. It all started when my dad asked me if I would like to take up part of his presentation as a speech. You know me, I replied yes. I have given many sppeches before but I knew that this time I would have to prepare my speech more carefully than last time since this would be the biggest audience I have ever gave a speech in. In the morning after I ate my breakfast I went up to the biggest hall to see my position for the speech. If you're wondering, I was not nervous because I have given many speeches in front of more than 500 people. This is what I said for my speech:
Dear healthcare professionals,
My name is Zhi Hong, and I'm turning 9 this year.
Since children, we're being taught to be friendly to animals but yet we see that many people actually eat them. Some adults love dogs and cats but eat chicken and beef. Adults are not doing what they say.
Vegetarian is not only eco friendly, but is also healthier, and also is preventing animals from getting killed, or even worse, extinct.
So if you have pets, you should be vegetarian too. You can't just like your pets, but eat fish. It's not fair.
All healthcare professionals are supposed to have a compassionate heart and vegetarian is an act of great love. Take care of yourself, take care of others and take care of this place.
You just can't ask your patients to eat vegetarian for a cure in their sickness but you yourself, are not showing them an example by doing it.
We children can make a difference to the world. So don't just sit there and listen to me talk, make a change in you now! Now we, parent child bonding class children would like to perform a sign language song called spirit of great love. Thank you.
When I was done with my speech, I was like a celebrity meeting my fans. The coordinator of TIMA (TIMA stands for Tzu Chi International Medical Association) missions even requested to meet me! He actually runs a whole hospital in Taiwan! He gave me some feedback to give a speech about animal rights. Tons of people came to say great job and some even requested for copyright for my speech and my dad's speech. One person even requested for a picture! After that, I helped out my mom and other people sort out the group things such as: name tags, rubbish, stickers that were not used yet, reusable paper,  folders, etc. After I done that, a person came and told me that he did not think of all the statements in my speech. I think that it was actually good for me to give my speech because the doctor that treated me when my friend injured my hand came to say great job. I have actually met with the doctor that treated my hand yesterday, but it was years back then that I met her for the first time. I never thought that I would meet her again in my life!
It was a very exciting, happy, and fun day.

Slice Of Life #18 - A Very Grand Conference

The logo of the organisation

Today, I went to a very grand conference. It was a 3 day conference. I missed the opening ceremony because I had school yesterday. Click here to watch the opening ceremony! More than 1,200 people came to the conference. Tomorrow, I will be giving a speech in the conference. My dad is the coordinator of the organisation of the conference so that's why I am allowed in the conference. Currently, I am actually in the VIP room typing this post.  The location of the conference is in Kepong, Malaysia. The whole place is so full that the hallways are filled with tables! I reached this place at 6:00 in the morning and will be leaving this place at about 10:50 at night. Yesterday, my dad had high fever due to not enough sleep. He still has fever but I am hoping that he will feel better soon.
Have you ever went to a grand conference or a conference? Hope to hear from you in the comments section below!
P.S Sorry for the short post...

Slice Of Life #17 - The Run For Cancer

Today we had a cancer awareness run. It was recommended that all students bring in 5-10 ringgit. (Ringgit cause were in Malaysia,) We had to wear either a P.E shirt, Terry Fox Shirt, Or a shirt that is coloured pink. I wore the most recent Terry Fox "T- Shirt" that I had. (It was last year's "T - Shirt")

When we first ran, we had to walk or speed walk the whole course.  It was a really long course. We first started at the gym, then we would run to where the buses parked, then running to the drop off area, and running is the hallways to the playground, and finally all the way back to the field. It was very exhausting. Last year I was in grade 2, so we only had to run around the field and the gym. It was also very exhausting, but not as exhausting as last year's run. Last year, I got 6 laps because the route was shorter this year's run and was also was way more exhausting than last year's run. Finally, the run was over. I had achieved my goal, half of what I got last year. I had got 3 stamps. I thought that we would have got popsicles, but we didn't . But that was not what mattered, what mattered was that I had achieved my goal for today. Not just that, it was a very exciting day.

Have you ever participated in a run like that? Hope to hear from you in the comment section below!

Slice Of Life #15 - Slicer Lunch - Getting A Gift

Image result for slice of life challenge badges

On Monday - 2 days ago, we had a "slicer lunch". A slicer lunch is when the "slicers" - people who have done slice of life for at least 2 times go up to class for lunch and we look at other people's posts to get some ideas of how to write our slices.
Some of my friends had sliced 2 times like Andrei, Eliza, etc. But some of my friends sliced more than 5 times. Currently, this is all the people that sliced at least 5 times or more. They are: Yixuan, Me, Juliet, Isabella, Mimi, Mikaela, Linnea, Sejin, and Toby. There are also people who sliced at least 10 times or more! Currently, they are - the same people. Me, Juliet, Isabella, Mimi, Mikaela, Linnea, Sejin, and Toby were the people who sliced at least 10 times or more.  But there are also people who sliced continuously! They are also: Me, Juliet, Isabella, Mimi, Mikaela, Linnea, Sejin, and Toby. We showed my post - Slice Of Life #10 - The Punctured Tire (If you did not read the post "The Punctured Tire", Click here now!). We also showed Sejin's post about why she writes slice of life. (If you did not read the slice, Click here immediately!) The slice of life creators thought that her (Sejin's) poem was so good and touching that they decided to put it on their popular blog on Mar 16th. (Click here for the link!) At the end of the slicer lunch, the people who sliced for at least 10 days or more -  Me, Juliet, Isabella, Mimi, Mikaela, Linnea, Sejin, and Toby got a gift. The gift was a pen and a highlighter! It was a pen on 1 side and was a highlighter on the other side.

It does not look like that and is also smaller. This picture is is just to let you know how it roughly looks like.
I have not used my highlighter yet but look forward to using it. Does your class have a slicer lunch? How many times have you sliced? Hope to hear from you in the comment section below and don't forget to check the links I linked up in my post! The links are AWESOME!

Slice Of Life #14 - A Big Risk - 1 Heart Left In Prodigy

For more information, Click Here! or, Click Here!

I was taking a big risk. I was playing "Prodigy", a math game that is popular in my class, and I was stuck in a wizard battle. There are 2 types of wizard battles. The most common type is when you come across a wild monster and you have to fight it with the spells and pets you have.
Image result for ashlet prodigy
This is a picture of "Ashlet". The feathers of "Ashlet" are meant to bring good luck.
But unfortunately, the feathers are too hot to touch.
I have many spells such as Pummel, Conjure, Magishot, Batter Up, Fireball, Charclone, Embers, Mudball, Cloudshot, etc. Currently, the pets I have are: Dragic (My First Pet), Mystile (My second pet), Nebluff, Mystyyk,  Ashlet, Arcticlaw, Funkeel, and Squibble.
I did not want to waste my time being stuck in a wizard battle. I wanted to complete some missions so I can learn new spells, buy pets, earn money, etc.
But that wizard battle was not a normal wizard battle. I was using my monster "Mystile" to battle a rascal. But I was about to lose! I had  a level 5"Mystile" (A level 5 "Mystile" does not have powerful moves.) with 1-140 hearts. At this point, most people would have given up. But I didn't give up! I knew that if I earned 5% of XP, I would level up. Even better, when you level up, you automatically get full health - which meant I would gain 139 hearts for my level 6 (I leveled up, so my "Mystile" is now level 6.)  "Mystile".  So I went ahead and pressed the button "Mudball". It asked me a math question, I was fortunate to have answered the question right. I was correct! My "Mystile" leveled up and became more tougher until it reached maximum health!

I am very happy to finally have a level 6 "Mystile". Hopefully I can be very good in playing the math game "Prodigy" and be the number 1 ranking person in my class.
