Slice Of Life #130 - Currently, Tuesday, August 28th, 2018

Ok. Hi everyone! I was  in a book called "The Secret Coders - Potions and Parameters". It's the 5th book in a great series. You're not allowed to do book recommendations in Slices (I'm pretty sure - but I don't know why.), so I'm going to stop talking about that.

Currently...

  • I just realized that a new Secret Coders book is expected soon and that I am missing out. The 6th book is supposed to be coming out on October 2, 2018, according to Google Books.
  • NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! This is going to be the last book in the series!
  • I am looking forward to the next Clarinet Masterclass at school - wait. I'm actually looking forward for next Monday, where I finally get to bring my instrument home. Apparently my instrument, the Clarinet, is the instrument with the most parts in my 5th grade band (it has 6 parts).
  • I am playing a game on starblast.io. I am playing team mode. In the game, I am in the Paerodem System and the year is still 4338 (I think.)
  • I am on the pink team.
  • I am collecting a bunch of gems. I have 19 gems.
  • Yay! I get to upgrade my ship!
  • My base has been upgraded.
  • I have 13 gems.
  • Someone is attacking me.
  • My teammate and me are fighting back.
  • He died!
  • I get to upgrade my ship again but it costs 80 gems.
  • No! Someone is attacking me.
  • I am fighting back.
  • I am moving around and trying to dodge his bullets.
  • I hit him 5 times.
  • 8.
  • HAHAHA kills me.
  • I respawn.
  • I have 59 gems.
  • I donated them all to my team.
  • People are stealing my gems.
  • I bought a mining pod.
  • We are attacking a team.
  • I died.
  • I am trying to attack the team again.
  • I am dealing damage.
  • I died.
  • I have to leave now.

Slice Of Life #129 - RIP

Hi! We meet again! I am now eating while typing, so I think that it might take me a while to actually finish this post. I am in my dad's 3rd clinic (FYI, my dad's a doctor) writing this post. After this, I have to complete my one page of homework. I don't really care if I don't finish homework today because:

  1. Tomorrow is a holiday!
  2. My teacher dosen't care if we hand in our homework late (but not too late). As long as we hand in our homework, he's happy.
My parents' have plans to go to somewhere to eat Indo Mee-Goreng, and I have no idea how it tastes because I am allergic to the egg in it. BTW, Wikipedia didn't spell Mee-Goreng correctly because they spelled it "Mie-Goreng"
    Wait a sec.
Did my mom just kill a lizard?
   ...
Wait! MY MOM KILLED A LIZARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now, the doctor in the clinic is saying it was unintentional and that it was an accident.
I KNOW THAT IT WAS AN ACCIDENT! SHE DOESN'T GET THE WHOLE POINT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Yeah, she)
    Now, A lizard's dead.
    That is so sad.
A life was lost - not that I even like lizards anyway.
    But,
I still feel bad for the lizard.
    RIP, LIZARD.

Life

Anyways, back to normal life. So far, school is really fun, so that's one thing for sure. I have homework (and the other classes don't), but that's kinda' good because:

  1. I love homework (yes, I am a nerd - kinda' - wait. Not really)
  2. Something else to do at home - other than fight boredom. (ok, I'm exaggerating. Life at home's not too boring.)
BTW, I'm done with dinner. I guess I have nothing else to write about, so I might as well end he post.
This post was actually supposed to be a post about life at home and school, but the lizard was very intresting to write about, so yeah.

As I end this post, I want to end with a simple message.

RIP, LIZARD.

P.S.: 撕裂蜥蜴 (ok, that's wrong. what that says is rip *like tear* lizard. Basically, it says tear the lizard. LOL.) It's supposed to be RIP 蜥蜴
P.P.S.: Kadal RIP (supposed to be Malay, but I don't think it is.)
P.P.S.: RIP lagarto (I have no idea if this is correct or not, but I used Google Translate and translated it into Spanish - Google Translate is not always correct.)

Slice Of Life #128 - Starting Fresh - Tuesday, 14/8/2018

Today was the first day of school! This meant that freedom from boredom! Anyways, today was a really good day. We had really cool gates that we would walk through into the new school. I was walked up to my grade's common area, which is the gathering place for my grade (grade 5).
I was pretty surprised that there were already so many people in the class, because it was still 7:40 in the morning (school starts at 8:00). Because everybody came early, we started school about 15 minutes early.
Another thing that I was surprised about was the fact that there were no morning announcements. In our school, we have morning announcements everyday to tell everyone what was going on. We got to know each other, especially the new students.
Our teacher, Mr. Herbert, walked us through the daily routine. He talked about the everyday schedule, and I was happy because I found out that I was in the advanced class for Spanish (not to brag).
Next, we had recess. We had nothing to play because since our school is a new school (now, elementary, middle, and high school are all together), and the building has not been fully built, and part of it include the playground. Because of that, we had to play in an open area. There were balls to play with, so we found some chalk and made a 4 square court. I think some kids underestimated the size of a 4-square court, because we barely had enough space to hit the ball to.
When it came to labeling our things, I was surprised. I'm pretty sure we're going to bring the supplies provided by the school home (the ones that were in our "box") because our teacher wanted us to write our name on them. Apparently we had to label everything, including the gluesticks, whiteboard eraser and marker, and the highlighter, which I had never experienced before.
At the end of the school day, the teacher gave us some homework to do, which I need to do right now. So, see you next week!

P.S.: I know that was a pretty bad ending.
P.P.S.: Yes! I finished this is 13 minutes!

Slice Of Life #127 - Craving for Durian

My alarm clock shook as it rang. Like always, I snoozed it. I always woke got out of bed on the second or third time it rang. I liked to get some more sleep. On the 2nd time it rang. I turned off the alarm and jumped out of bed.
All I saw when I went out of my room was a blinding flash of yellow light. Everybody was awake. My mom was doing something on the computer, and my dad was replying to a few important messages in his room. It took a while for my eyes to adjust to the light, but I didn't wait for my eyes to focus. I made my way to the stairs, which was right in the middle of the second floor, and made my way down.

It was 6:20 in the morning, and we were going to eat some durian. Someone had invited us (along with a bunch of other lectures and doctors and really high ranked people in the hospital and some other people) to go eat durian in Raub, Pahang. We planned to depart at 7:00 and stop at Bentong, which according to Wikipedia, is a municipality (I actually had to google that up to find out what it meant). In Malaysia, we have some food that we call Chee Cheong Fun, and from what I heard, the Chee Cheong Fun there was really good (according to google, it is a rice noodle roll, but the word does not have anything to do with how it looks).
Everyone from my area (in terms of stay) gathered in front of my dad's clinic. Because it was so early, there was parking everywhere. I had the freedom to run around and have fun because there were barely any cars, which is a rare sight. When everyone arrived, we hopped into the 2 cars that we were driving to Raub, and drove off.
I tried to get my mom's friend to get slower and explain that she was speeding, but she didn't listen. For most of the time, she was driving at 2 times the speed limit, and if you added it up, it was faster than Malaysia's highest speed limit.
We made a quick toilet break at a petrol station. What I thought was really special was the fact that the toilet was inside the snacks area in the petrol station.
It wasn't very long after that we reached the place where we were going to eat Chee Cheong Fun.
We were lucky that we reached there early, because 10 minutes into our breakfast, there was a really long line in front of the Chee Cheong fun stall. The Chee Cheong Fun was good (especially the beancurd/tofu skin), but the sauce was way too salty. I ended up giving most of the noodles to my dad and eating fried beehoon.
When we reached the house of the person that invited us to eat durian, I quickly got off the car. The person entertained us while the others were setting up the tables. We learned a lot about durian, especially how to differentiate the different types of durian and differentiate if it was grown on flat land or bumpy land).

Then came the fun part. We got to eat the durian! He announced that he was planning of starting some type of "delivering durian to your doorstep program", and that we could help him out. Lots of people signed up (but I don't know if you can make profit because I didn't quite understand).
We ate D24 durian, which if is grown in our area is normal but tastes really good if is grown in Raub. Next, we ate Musang King durian, which is good in the whole Malaysia (no offense, but in my opinion Malaysia's durians' are by far the best. If you are a durian lover, you have to try Malaysia's durian).
We were also allowed to go to the farm, which was a privilege to us. I decided to sit in the back of the 4-wheel-drives because I was still small. We had to duck quite frequently, but I only needed to duck occasionally because I was short. All I needed to do was make sure that I dodged most of the leaves, but I would duck if there was a durian (you have no idea how much it hurts to get hit by a durian). The owner of the durian farm told us that they tied the durians to the tree so it wouldn't fall and break other durians (money does kind of grow on trees - durian=money).
I also got to pick rambutans from trees (I found out that yellow rambutans were things). I also learned a lesson - always sit in the front car because you will probably always reach first. (haha!) A car got stuck going up, and we already reached. I made my way down with the person that invited us to eat durian (the "tour guide") to find them. The run was worth it because I managed to get my phone from my mom, which I used to take beautiful photos.
I had found a durian that had been eaten by a squirrel earlier, but there were still things to eat inside eat (I don't know how to describe the thing that you eat inside the durian.) Unfortunately, when I went to see where my parents were stuck, someone let them borrow a knife to cut open my durian, and they opened it and ate everything inside it without my permission.
We found a small tiny snake. It looked like a toy snake, but after looking at it for a while, we found out that it was real and poisonous.
Time flew and our visit to the durian farm quickly ended. We thanked the owner of the farm for the free durian and said goodbye to the beautiful place.

P.S. Google really has to fix their spelling. They don't know how to spell "durian" and "rambutans"

Slice Of Life #126 - Something Wrong With Me - Tuesday, 31/7/2018

I am noticing that there is something wrong with me. I have nothing to write about. AGAIN (this is like the 5th time and I'm not even exaggerating.) Currently it is summer holidays, and I have nothing to do because we have came back from all the holidays. But there's good news. I'm starting 5th grade in just a few weeks. My passport expires next year, so I went to renew my passport with my parents.
In front of the entrance (to make your passport) was a chain that forbids people to park there. I decided to jump over it, and good news, I did not get injured. The lift doors opened with a clank! It was about 12 in the afternoon, but when we got the number that told us when our turn would be, there were about 300 people in front of us. We planned to print my birth certificate out (because I needed it to make a passport), but when we found out that our turn was at 6pm, we went home to get my birth certificate.
My piano teacher called to ask me if I was free to do a replacement class today. Luckily, my dad was smart enough to tell my mom to tell my piano teacher that I would do the piano replacement today. My dad knew that what the person told us was not necessarily true, and sure enough, I finished my piano class and we all came back just to find out that we had to wait until 8pm because they were going to rest for a hour to clean the place. We ate dinner, and came back at 8pm. We didn't have to worry about missing our turn because even if our turn passed, they would allow us to make our passport right away.
When our turn came, we went to the counter. I was up first, so I handed my passport to the officer. My dad met a classmate from when he was in secondary school (I think), and they started to talk. The officer asked for my height, so I replied with a steady answer.
"125cm." (yeah, I'm pretty short for my age.)
Then I turned to the right. They had a really cool picture system, not only because the cameras were very good (and probably expensive), but the cameras would move up and down according to your height. The officer snapped a few pictures from his computer, and he said that I was all good. He printed a sheet of paper out. I put my left thumb on this fingerprint scanner thing, and did the same with my right. I was so happy. This meant that I could finally use the E-Gates again. I put my thumb on a ink pad, and then pressed it down firmly on the piece of paper. They were taking my fingerprint for whoever knows why (actually, it was because I didn't have a signature yet.)
It then came to my parents turn, I started talking to my dad's friend's sons, but I soon decided to go to the toilet. We talked some more in the toilet (because they decided to go too). My mom and dad decided to go and make a new Identity Card (IC), although I did not because I still could use mine until I was 12 (or 13. I forgot what age). They had to make new ICs because their ICs were not the new format, and if it was not in the new format, then they would not be able to renew their driving licenses. We were told that we had to come get my parents' ICs tomorrow, and they were given temporary ICs to use.
We then walked into the lift. We paid the parking fee (I memorized everything that the parking machine would say, so I recited it as the parking machine said it.), got in the car, and drove off into the darkness.

Slice Of Life #125 - Nothing to Write About (AGAIN!) - Tuesday, 24/7/2018

I have nothing to write about. Again. I really wonder how YouTubers that post videos everyday think of what to record about. They have intriguing topics everyday, and I don't understand how.
    Currently...

  • I have nothing to do.
  • My mom found an article about a lunar eclipse that is taking place on the 28th of July this year.
  • If you are in the US, you are out of luck because you will not be able to see the eclipse. Pretty sure.
  • Yes! I can see the eclipse from my house. Click here to see if you will be able to see the eclipse.
  • The eclipse will take place on the same day that Mars will be closer than ever before to us.
  • According to the website, I will be able to see the eclipse for 6 hours and 6 minutes.
  • I am searching for the latest science news.
  • Yesterday, scientists working at the University of Michigan managed to find a long trail of stars from the long lost M32 (Messier 32 - Messier was the astronomer that discovered M32 (pretty sure)), or more commonly known as the Andromeda galaxy.
  • I am reading about the Asian games
  • I am reading about trap shooting
  • I have to go take a bath now. I know that this post is very short and also very boring. I am sorry.
  • Bye!

Slice Of Life #124 - I'm Back! - Tuesday, 17/7/2018

Ok. Well, it's nice to finally be typing my Slice Of Life in front of a computer again. One thing that has changed is my typing. I really need to brush up on my typing after not typing on a computer for a week. Wait. Take that back. My I have not gotten any slower on typing on a phone. Only a computer.
Anyways, this post is going to be about my holiday. When I wrote my last post, I was sitting under mint green trees on a bench, and I was also sitting on the front steps to a museum in Budapest, Hungary (click here). But, that was my 2nd day on holiday (I think). That did not cover the part when I was in Vienna, Hallstatt, and Salzburg. So now, lets talk about what I did.
When we arrived at Vienna (after we got off a bus), we took a train to somewhere close to the hotel. Then, we got off the train and walked to our hotel. At first glance, I did not expect the hotel to be good because of what was surrounding it. But when we actually got close to the hotel, it gave us a good first impression, which is very important for making business. Service is another key thing to success, and service was great. And... I found another grammar error! (people really need to proof read their things these days) Grammar error (sorry, I have to do this. Finding grammar errors is life!): Enjoy the fresh Viennese water from the tap. Bring your water bottle here. We delighted to refill it for you. Um... You have to put an 'are' before delighted. Anyways, back to the story.
In Vienna, I don't think a lot of people have cars, so they take trains (usually) to work. Taking trains and subways was a crucial way for us to be able to move around. Because of that, my dad had pre-bought a 1 week city pass, which let us use public transport in Vienna for free for 1 week. (well, we had to pay for the 1 week pass).
By the way, if you have allergies to egg and/or dairy and/or you are a vegan, Vienna is the place for you. They have some people there promoting veganism, and if you managed to find them, their basically going to be able to let you know about a lot of great vegan food that you can go try. Other than that, I finally got the chance to eat ice cream on a cone! FYI, the cones for ice creams have egg in them, so that's why I can't eat ice cream on a cone. But this time, they had vegan ice cream (that means with no milk), and the cones also had no eggs! Link here.
Also, I went to the headquarters of the United Nations (UN)! I bought a shirt there (that was bigger than me even though it was supposed to be smaller than me.) When we got pass all the security checks, we stepped on UN ground (basically, the territory belonged to all the countries that are part of UN, so it was basically also my country (a small part)). We were still in Vienna, but it was no longer considered Vienna's territory. Because of this, the guards (in terms of security) were not Vienna's police. They were from around the world, and the police were only called in if the UN needed help. Their just like embassies (US embassies, US territory, which means that the countries' army is not allowed in without permission.)
In Hallstatt, I got to take pictures from a UNESCO world heritage view. Beautiful scenery! We took a funicular up the hill (which is like a tram) to see a mine (not the inside of it because we didn't have time) and learn how the miners lived. I also got to walk in a UNESCO world heritage village, where, like always, there were beautiful views.
And finally, in Salzburg, I got to go inside Mozart's residence, and also Mozart's birth place (but I didn't go inside) I loved to go inside Mozart's residence, because there, I got to learn more about him, and how he lived. His house was pretty big, but unfortunately, part of it was destroyed during WWII. (Budapest, Vienna, and Salzburg had a lot to do with WWII. Especially Budapest. Hotels there were used as headquarters for spies in WWII.) Mozart's house displayed many cool and intresting things that Mozart had used/written in his life, including a violin that he used and some of his drafts for symphonies.
Great, we're finally done. I'm exhausted. See you next week! Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
